Making Ice Cream

Making Ice Cream

Thee days before Mother’s Day, David Alan and my dad bought my mom a dehydrator and an ice cream maker.

The day after Mother’s Day we tried to make banana chips with the dehydrator; but we miserably failed by dipping them in honey, which made them soft and squishy and totally weird. But the ice cream maker was something completely different.

We got out all of the ingredients for the mix; which were 7 cups of milk, 4 eggs, 3 cups of whipping cream, 2½ cups of sugar, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 2½ tablespoons vanilla. We mixed them up, poured them into the ice cream canister, filled it up with ice, sprinkled it with rock salt, and started cranking. We cranked for about 3 hours and then took off the lid, tasted it, took the canister out of the wooden pail, poured the ice cream into a large bowl, put it into the freezer, and waited.

When we tasted the ice cream, it was just about the best ice cream that we had ever tasted.                                                                                                                         End of Post.
